body oil - - Nature's Vibe

I made the switch from using body lotion to body oil about a year ago, and I haven’t looked back.  I have fairly dry skin and I find the body oil does a much better job of moisturizing my skin AND it just feels much more luxurious!

Making your own body oil (which can also double as a massage oil) is easy, cost effective, and best of all completely customizable and chemical free.  A couple things to keep in mind when applying body oil though: (1) a little goes a LONG way and (2) it’s best to apply the oil right after a shower or bath, so that the oil can seep into the skin and hydrate better (when skin is a little damp it’s like a sponge, soaking up all the oily goodness).

Have fun playing with your essential oil scent options!  You can really go wild here.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Relaxing Blend(s)- lavender alone, lavender and roman chamomile combo, lavender and cedarwood combo, lavender and vanilla combo

Sensual Blend- ylang ylang, wild orange (or bergamot) and sandalwood combo

Skin Healing Blend- lavender, tea tree and frankincense combo

Creamsicle Blend- wild orange and vanilla combo

DIY Body Oil

air tight glass or aluminum container with a pump (mine is a 250ml size)

jojoba oil

fractionated coconut oil (stays liquid at room temperature)*

essential oils of choice**

Fill your container half way with jojoba oil (I suggest using a funnel, to make life easier).  Fill the rest of the way with fractionated coconut oil, leaving a small space at the top for your essential oils and the pump.  Add your essential oils, put on the lid/pump, shake (cover the little pump opening first), and apply.

*you can substitute a different carrier oil here if you want (like almond oil, avocado oil or grape seed oil).  For more information on different carrier oils check out my post “What is a Carrier Oil?

**for a 250ml sized bottle I use about 20-30 drops of essential oil.  You can add more or less depending on how strong you would like your scent and how potent the oils you are using are.
